Today, with little contention, Mitt Romney easily took all five of the Republican primary races. Romney grabbed New York, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Connecticut.
Upon victory, Romney declared that the battle with Obama is on. Romney took cheap shots at Obama. Romney called Obama’s term a disappointment, failing to acknowledge that during Obama’s first term, there was relatively no bipartisan support, as Republicans did not even support Obama on bills when he compromised and gave Republicans all they wanted in the bills.
Current projections show that Obama would defeat Romney. Romney does not have enough appeal to garner all Republican votes. Furthermore, Romney’s proposed policies are no different than the ones the Bush administration put forth that resulted in the recession.
While Romney, who himself has held very liberal positions, is running as a Republican, it is doubtful that he could realistically stand up to Obama and pose any threat.
With the November election still months away, if Romney wants any chance at becoming President, he must establish his credibility among Republicans and win over the voters who preferred Santorum, Paul, and Gingrich.
Whether or not Romney is willing to admit it, he still has a lot of work to do before he can even present a challenge to Obama.
