Is there evidence of major dysfunction within the Republican Party? In short, yes.
With four candidates left in the race- Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, and Ron Paul- it is really becoming heated as the men battle it out. The two men at the front of the race are Santorum and Romney and the gloves are coming off.
Santorum said today that Mitt Romney, who is currently projected to win the Republican nomination, is without a doubt “The worst Republican in the country to put up against Barack Obama.”
Santorum acknowledged that he understands that the odds are currently against him, but that he knows that he is the better man. He has asked his followers to remain faithful to him and to continue working to get him the nomination so he can properly represent the Republicans in November.
He went on to discredit the policy stances of Romney. Santorum essentially called Romney a flip flopper. He said Romney would change his opinion at the blink of an eye and is too inconsistent to represent the party. He said that Romney would not provide any true competition for Obama.
We must ask one question. Is this Santorum pointing out the truth about Romney or is this Santorum grasping for straws as it is becoming more and more obvious the race is over and he is not the winner?
