We recently announced that Russell Brand has filed for divorce from his wife Katy Perry. When Brand filed the papers Friday morning he cited irreconcilable differences.
The couple has been married for 14 months and was together since meeting at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
Initially it was strange that the two would separate as they have been extremely happy in public and have both spoken very highly of each other.
However, it is now revealed why the seemingly happy couple have decided to part ways. It is being reported that frustration built up over Russell Brand’s desire to settle down with Perry and have children. But Perry was not interested in taking a step back from the spotlight and slowing down her career.
Other issues come from the fact that Brand is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict. Perry’s lifestyle involved the Hollywood club scene and partying. That type of lifestyle puts major stresses on someone who is recovering from addiction.
Sources say Perry gave Brand her wedding ring back just one week before Christmas. Then the two spent Christmas in completely different locations with Brand in Cornwall, England and Perry in Hawaii.
Apparently, sources close to them say there were signs of trouble early on in the relationship in terms of their differing lifestyles.
