After being married for the last 14 months, actor Russell Brand and singer Katy Perry have announced that they are going to divorce. From the outside, it has appeared that the two were happy and would be together forever.
Brand said today, “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”
Married since October 2010, Brand, who is 36, and Perry, who is 27, only listed irreconcilable differences in the official divorce papers filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court.
The two initially met at the MTV Music Video Awards in 2009 and were engaged by January of 2010.
The two spoke very highly of each other. Brand said in March, “For a long while, what I do professionally was all that mattered to me really. Now I think, well, whatever I do, I’ll just go back to her and that’s incredibly comforting.”
At the end of the day, despite no longer being together, Brand still has his fantastic acting career full of hit films and Perry is still one of the hottest singers in America and is likely going to continue to make hit albums.
