Obama Meets With Military, Praises Them for bin Laden Mission

The capture and near immediate extermination of Osama bin Laden is arguably the most important international event of this millennium. One of the most dangerous terrorists and threats to public safety since the days of Adolf Hitler has finally been annihilated permanently and can no longer pose a threat to the people of the free world.

President Barack Obama surely realizes the importance of such a situation. In terms of foreign policy, tackling the threats of terrorism was high on Obama’s objective list and now one of the biggest pieces of the challenge has been completed.

Obama was not going to let the achievement go unnoticed and made a point to thank the right people.

Obama went to Fort Campbell, Kentucky on Friday to speak with the Army’s 101st Airborne Division, as well as the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. The team was responsible for the defeat of Osama bin Laden in his al Qaeda hideaway in Pakistan. Obama also met with the team that conducted the raid, Navy SEAL Team 6.

The President spoke with the Navy SEAL group in private as well. He spoke to the man who fired the shots that killed bin Laden, but the Head of State was not informed which man that was.

Obama told the troops, “We are ultimately going to defeat al Qaeda. We have cut off their head. Our strategy is working and there is no greater evidence of that than justice finally being delivered to Osama bin Laden. We’re still the America that does the hard things, that does the great things.”

President Obama, who was accompanied by Vice President Joe Biden on the trip, awarded to all of the troops who were part of the mission Presidential Unit Citations.

Obama praised the efforts of the troops. He said, “They practiced tirelessly for this mission and when I gave the order they were ready.”

Now that al Qaeda has been hit hard, the United States has a resurrected sense of pride.

We now have the upper hand on terrorists. We know of their plans via the information collected from the raid. We know about their plans to mark the anniversary of 9/11 by attacking us again.

Osama bin Laden is gone. Terrorism is down. Even al Qaeda is hurting hard and in a state of shock.

However, terrorism is not dead, but with the work of the American military, a collection of some of the bravest men and women this country has to offer, the free world is safe for the time being.
