So it is written, so it shall come to pass. It was earlier this year that we announced that Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of MTV Jersey Shore fame was pregnant with her first child. Now, that baby has been born and Snooki is officially a mother. It should be no surprise that Snooki and her boyfriend of about two years, Jionni LaValle, are most likely fist pumping in excitement to celebrate the birth of their baby boy, Lorenzo Dominic LaValle.
Lorzeno was born in the early hours of Sunday in his official hometown of Livingston, New Jersey. He burst into the world at a healthy 6 lbs, 5 oz. A representative for the family says that the couple and their new child are doing well and are extremely happy.
Snooks is now Momma Snooks
As she awoke this morning, Snooki took to Twitter to share her joy with the world. She wrote, “I am SO IN LOVE with my son Lorenzo Dominic! I had my little man last night, healthy at 6 lbs! HE’S MY WORLD.”
But Snooki is not the only Jersey Shore star with a new name. Jionni is now Papa Jionni. And let’s not forget about the others. The loveable DJ Pauly D proclaimed himself Uncle Pauly in his tweet directed at Snooki and Jionni. Pauly D wrote, “I’m Officially Uncle Pauly !!! #MyMeatballHadAMeatball.”
Among all of this happy news is a bit of concern among those who do not exactly love Snooki. Many feel her party girl attitude and her lifestyle make her not fit to be a mother. But Snooki is not letting those opinions weigh her down.
Snooki grows up
Two years ago, Snooki and Jionni met at a nightclub in New Jersey at Seaside Heights. Snooki’s drinking habits and party habits have been well publicized on MTV and the media. This leaves many wondering if she can really be ready for motherhood at just 24 years of age.
Snooki is making it clear that she isn’t taking motherhood lightly and understands it is going to be a full time job for her that she must take seriously. Snooki told US Weekly, “I have different priorities now. I don’t care what anybody else thinks. As long as I know I’m ready and he’s ready.” The he she is referring to is Jionni.
Snooki went on to say, “Everyone will be surprised to see a different side of me. I’m loving, caring, sensitive, protective, and very maternal, no matter what people might think.”
To her credit, the only times we have really seen Snooki is on reality TV where she is encouraged to party and drink. In the setting of Jersey Shore, she has few responsibilities beyond being entertaining and having a good time. Truth be told, none of us really know Snooki in real life and can actually predict what type of mother she is capable of being.
Next for Snooks
What lies next for Snooks? After settling in with her new baby boy, the plan is to get married with boyfriend Jionni. We all have seen the problems the two have had and the drastic differences they have in personality. However, we also cannot rule out that much of this can be scripted for TV. Again, we do not know what they are like in real life and when it is just them outside of the Jersey Shore environment.
On October 4th, season 6 of Jersey Shore begins airing on MTV. It is not a secret that Snooki is on the show while pregnant with Lorenzo. Many are expecting that the new season will feature less drinking and partying because of the pregnancy. Snooki would definitely be in the night clubs much less, but other housemates are likely to hold back as well so as to not leave Snooki alone on a nightly basis.

Is Lorenzo destined to be a reality TV star? Maybe. He is definitely reality TV royalty. Snooki may be one of the most popular reality TV stars of all time and her first-born definitely holds a special place in the hearts of her fans. Just based on his name and his parents, this boy will grow into an extremely popular Chilean-Italian American man.
