With college tuition costs all over the board we decided to do some research and find some typical university and college tuition rates for the 2009 – 2010 school year. We found that 53% of students attend schools where their total annual fees are under $9000. This includes community colleges as well.
Another important factor to remember is that many students receive college grants which are not included in average tuition data.
In 2009 – 2010 school year, 20% of students attended colleges paying more than $36,000 annual tuition and fees. 32% of full time students paid university fees of $3000 – 6000. And 19% attended private universities paying fees below $18,000.
- On average, four year private universities charge $26,273 for tuition and fees which is up 4.4% from 2008-2009 school year.
- Public four year university average tuition was $7,020 which is up 6.5% from last year.
Community College Average Tuition
Public community colleges (two year schools) cost an average tuition price of $2,544, with 31% of full time students in the U.S. attending public two year schools.
