Obama Addresses Immigration Reform

San Francisco (Obama.net)- With the controversial recent actions of the state of Arizona and its Governor Jan Brewer, the topic of illegal immigration and immigration reform has heated up. And now President Barack Obama is pushing towards a comprehensive resolution that would involve bipartisan support.

Currently Democrats and Republicans are on opposing sides in the battle over immigration, but President Obama is hoping to change all of that very soon.

Immigration has always been a hot button issue without a clear resolution and the President of the United States of America is not oblivious to that fact. President Obama realized that compromise is needed and a middle ground needs to be found in order to finally attain a positive resolution on the matter.

According to reports, the United States is occupied by approximately eleven million immigrants who are here illegally.

During a speech at American University in Washington D.C. President Obama said, “I believe we can put politics aside and finally have an immigration system that’s accountable” and “I believe we can appeal not to people’s fears, but to their hopes, to their highest ideals. Because that’s who we are as Americans.”

With Arizona’s new law making in mandatory for immigrants to carry their proper documentation at all times within the state border, Obama realized that he had to act swiftly in order to protect the people in the United States and our visitors.

Obama has called the new bill nothing more than a tool to make the problems in America much worse. As it is under review by the United States Justice Department, Obama is working as hard as he can to properly fix the immigration problem.

Obama has batted down the idea of giving citizenship to all of the illegal immigrants currently in the United States in order to fix the situation. Obama cited that this “would suggest to those thinking about coming here illegally that there will be no repercussions for such a decision. And this could lead to a surge in more illegal immigration,” and “it would also ignore the millions of people around the world who are waiting in line to come her legally.”

Obama said he still plans to hold illegal immigrants accountable for unlawfully entering the United States of America. Obama said they need to register with the country and pay taxed, fines, and learn the English language.

As President Barack Obama is pressing for immigration reform in Congress, the citizens of the United States can rest assured that what is currently being seen in Arizona will not expand to the rest of the United States. If President Obama can find the bipartisan support that he is searching for, then in due time a resolution can be drawn up and officially put into effect in the United States of America.
