Today it was announced that members of the Secret Service will be investigating and speaking to rock and roll legend Ted Nugent.
At the recent meeting of the National Rifle Association, Ted Nugent essentially threatened the life of President Barack Obama. Nugent said, “If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year. If you can’t go home and get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil, America-hating administration, you don’t even know what you’re made out of.
Many took the comments of Nugent as a direct threat to the life of the President.
Nugent said he is not angry or offended by the reaction of the Secret Service and said he is anticipating speaking with the agents.
This has also brought negative publicity to Republican candidate Mitt Romney. Nugent has endorsed Romney. Romney’s spokespeople have openly said that Romney does not support the words of Nugent and saw his comments as very offensive.
Regardless of political identification, any person can see that the comments by Nugent are over the line and offensive. In modern America, there is no place for threatening the life of a political official, especially by such a public figure.
