San Francisco (Obama.net)- The tragic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico a few months back is still not over. As oil continues to leak into the ocean and damage its surrounding regions, President Barack Obama is making the oil company, British Petroleum, take financial responsibility for their enormous error in procedure in the Gulf of Mexico.
The United States of America and President Barack Obama have billed BP for a fourth time. This time, the tally comes to a grand $99.7 million to pay back for all of the damage in the environment surrounding the Gulf of Mexico.
The payments will go to clean up the oil and the shoreline in order to protect the environment. Also, the money will be used to stop the leakage and provide financial relief for the people who use the Gulf of Mexico and the wildlife for work and their only source of income to put food on the table for their families.
The near one hundred million dollar bill will be placed into the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund, which will help the national government, the state governments, and the local organizations in their efforts to take care of the spill and the damages cost by it.
All of this money will be added to the money that BP has already been required to pay. The biggest bill adds to the first three bills issues by the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, which had an amazing total of 122.3 million dollars.
The Oil Liability Trust Fund originally had one and a half billion dollars in it to help with costs when oil spills occur and damages need to be taken care of. The money paid by British Petroleum will replace a small chunk of the money that has already been spent to take care of the tragic crisis in the Gulf of Mexico.
As time is continuing to pass and the spill is still going on, there is no question that major relief efforts are highly necessary right now. While many can point the proverbial finger at BP and wag it, one must also commend the ability of BP to own up to their errors at the end of the day and pay the bills issued by President Barack Obama.
There is no possible way to undo the damage done to the environment near the Gulf of Mexico, as well as the ocean water itself. There is no possible way to undo the harm this tragic catastrophe has done to the men and women who need the Gulf of Mexico and surrounding land to make money and provide for their families. But one thing that can be done is an effort of massive proportions to try to bring relief to those people and set them up for a better tomorrow.
And that’s exactly what President Barack Obama and the government of the United States of America are doing. President Obama knows that the most he can do at this point in time is simply to try to help those affected by the oil spill. And with the leadership of President Obama, one can be assured that the most effective relief will come with an impressive quickness.
