Monday night marks a historic day in the worlds of entertainment, television, and professional wrestling. World Wrestling Entertainment will be hosting the 1,000th episode of their weekly episodic program, Monday Night RAW. In terms of number of episodes among weekly episodic television programs, Monday Night RAW is by far number one. It is literally hundreds of episodes ahead of other long running shows such as The Simpsons, Gunsmoke, and the WWE’s own SmackDown!
Anyone who follows WWE knows that the bigger the stage, the bigger the delivery for the WWE. For the 1,000th episode of Monday Night RAW, their flagship show since 1993, WWE is sure to come with their best weapons locked and loaded, ready to deliver a show of a lifetime. The show will feature the top stars of today and legends of yesterday.
D-Generation X and Brock Lesnar
Right at the start of the three-hour extravaganza, the legendary D-Generation X will kick off the show. Triple H and Shawn Michaels will join forces once again to entertain the fans. While DX alone is entertaining enough and will pelase fans for the 15-20 minutes they will likely be on TV, knowing the WWE, they are not brining in Shawn Michaels, the greatest of all time, and using him just for a quick pop.
This can go one of two ways. Either the WWE is going to pull out an even bigger surprise by bringing out the other former members of DX- X-Pac, Road Dogg Jesse James, and Billy Gunn (The New Age Outlaws) or Brock Lesnar will come down the aisle. Lesnar coming down the aisle will likely indicate the continuation of the feud between Lesnar and Triple H, likely via an attack of Michaels by Lesnar.
The wedding of Daniel Bryan and AJ Lee
We’ve had many power couples in WWE history. Granted, Bryan and AJ aren’t exactly the Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth or Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, but the angle has been one of the most captivating in years.
Anyone who has ever seen a WWE wedding can be 99% sure there will be an interruption. Who will interrupt? That’s the million dollar question. The logic points to CM Punk, but it looks like Punk is on to bigger things in a feud with John Cena (more on that later). The official prediction is that this wedding goes down without a hitch. Granted, it is possible we see a surprise appearance by a legend.
The Rock
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to make his return to the WWE for RAW 1000. The Rock has been talking about becoming the WWE Champion again. Right now that would mean beating CM Punk. But the overall goal of the WWE is to pay back John Cena for doing the job to The Rock at WrestleMania 28. It is possible that The Rock might make an appearance during the WWE Title match, but odds are he is going to crack some jokes to entertain his fans and then layout his plans for winning the WWE Title. The official prediction is that The Rock officially puts his name down as the first participant in the 2013 Royal Rumble. This then will lead to The Rock headlining WrestleMania 29 with John Cena in a battle for the WWE Title.
John Cena vs. CM Punk for the WWE Title
The match we have all been waiting for since last summer. Because of The Rock’s return, Punk wasn’t able to get his big win over Cena at WrestleMania 28. Punk is coming in as WWE Champion and Cena as the current holder of the WWE Title Money in the Bank contract. It is possible that The Rock might interfere.
The official prediction is that Cena becomes the first man to unsuccessfully cash in the Money in the Bank contract and Punk walks out still Champion, with or without outside interference. The goal is to build to a bigger payoff at SummerSlam next month with Cena winning the WWE Title and carrying it to WrestleMania 29 where he gets his payback from WWE by defeating The Rock and stopping him from becoming World Champion for the 10th time.
RAW 1000
On a night where we will see the returns of Brock Lesnar, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, and DX, the naming of a new RAW GM (prediction- Paul Heyman) and one of the most anticipated WWE Title matches in recent history, we must keep focus on the biggest thing of all: the milestone WWE RAW is reaching with episode 1,000.
