This morning, hip hop legend Heavy D passed out in his home in Beverly Hills, California. He died soon there after at a local Los Angeles hospital.
Born Dwight Arrington Myers, the rapper was found passed out at about 11:25 am this morning at which time the police were called. The rapper was 44 years old.
He was officially pronounced dead while he was in the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center emergency room. The cause of his passing has not yet been figured out.
Heavy D started his career in 1987 as the leader of Heavy D & The Boyz. Many remember his associations with both Michael and Janet Jackson. Heavy D rapped on Janet’s song “Alright.” And, more notably, he rapped on Michael Jackson’s hit song “Jam” off of the legendary Dangerous album.
The rapper was also an actor on both television and film. He was in Eddie Murphy’s latest film “Tower Heist”
Heavy D’s last messages to his fans came last night via his Twitter. First he praised the life of boxed Joe Frazier, who passed away yesterday, then he left his fans with one last note, “BE INSPIRED!”
