Presidential Campaigning Begins, Romney and Obama Battle in Michigan

With Rick Santorum officially out of the running for the Republican nomination to run for President of the United States in November against Democrat and incumbent Barack Obama, we now know that it will be Mitt Romney representing the Republicans.

Both men are very charismatic and will prove to give Americans an exciting battle to watch. And that battle has already begun. Or at least the reports of it in the media have.

In his home state of Michigan, Mitt Romney is currently leading President Obama by 0.4 million dollars in donations to his campaign. Romney has raised $2 million while Obama has racked up $1.6 million.

However, there is still a lot of time until the November election on that first Tuesday of the month. Obama did pass a lot of legislation to get the auto industry booming once again in Michigan and might be able to win the state from the local Romney. Obama is still the favorite to win the state despite Romney being born there.

It should also be noted that in the United States, Obama has so far gained $157 million while Romney is trailing with less than half of that with just $74 million.

Again, we are talking in April about an election in six months. While the race is far from over, Obama is off to a hot start.
