San Francisco (Obama.net)- The politics of the United States of America in the 1990’s were known for a lot of things. In the time following the fall and collapse of the Soviet Union and the destruction of the Berlin Wall, America was booming. With Democratic President Bill Clinton taking the role of Head of State from George H.W. Bush, a new era began in the United States.
When some people think of Bill Clinton, many go straight to his personal infidelities and improper actions while in office that led to an impeachment trial. However, one thing that cannot be denied about the Presidency of Bill Clinton is that under his watch, the economy of the United States of America soared and was more than stable.
President Barack Obama inherited an economy that was driven into the ground and then some by former President George W. Bush. With the economy being in its worst condition since the days of the Great Depression, President Obama is seeking a plan to rebuild the economy and stabilize it.
Thus, President Barack Obama has invited Bill Clinton to the White House to help bring the United States back to its former form in the last decade of the previous millennium.
The last time the names Obama and Clinton were mentioned in the same sentence was during the 2008 Presidential primaries as Obama was competing with Clinton’s wife, the former First Lady and current Secretary of State Hilary Clinton for the Democratic nomination. But now, the two men are on the same team.
Obama spoke with Clinton at the White House on Wednesday about the economy. The main focus of the discussions was about the topic of creating jobs for the citizens of the United States.
Obama has already decided it would be best to bring in Jacob Lew to serve as the head of the Office of Management and Budget as he did under Bill Clinton. Lew is expected to do with the current economy what he did with Clinton’s: turn deficits around into surpluses.
Obama met with Clinton and a few other business leaders to talk about how to create new jobs. The most popular resolution had to do with making the building in the United States even more efficient energy wise.
According to the Obama Administration’s Council of Economic Advisors, the Administration has already produced and helped conserve approximately three million jobs in the United States of America.
The problem Obama is now facing is public perception. Despite the steady and swift improvements he has made, the people of America still see the unemployment rate at a staggering nine and a half percent. Many are still fearful that the recession could fall backward and not truly be improving as government officials are saying.
This adds reason to bring in Clinton who left the United States with an unemployment rating of only four percent.
With midterm elections coming soon, the urgency to improve the economy is high on the Democrat’s side.
In this ever-important time in America politics, it is vital that President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton combine their forces and intellect to raise the American economy out of the dumps, lower the unwelcome unemployment rate, and make sure that Democratic officials retain their posts in the upcoming elections.
While only time will tell whether or not this coalition will bring the wanted results, there is no doubt that this power duo is the best suited for a job this important to the people of the United States of America.
