The 2011 New York City Marathon results are in and after running the grueling 26.2 miles, the men’s winner is Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya in a time of 2 hours 5 minutes and 5 seconds. Earlier this year, Mutai ran the fastest marathon ever at the Boston Marathon in an amazing 2 hours 3 minutes and 2 seconds. That’s an astonishing 4:42 mile pace.
The women’s winner was Firehiwot Dado of Ethiopia ina time of 2 hours 23 minutes and 15 seconds. Dado also won the Rome City marathon this year, and the three previous years.
There were also several celebrities who ran the race for charity and recorded impressive times:
- Mario Lopez finished in 4 hours 23 minutes and 30 seconds.
- Model Christy Turlington finished in 4 hours 20 minutes and 47 seconds (wow!).
- Bobby Flay (celebrity chef) finished in 4:01:37.
- Amani Toomer (NFL player) finished in 4:13.
Other celebrities included Veronica Webb (model), Robin Quivers (Howard Stern show), Al Roker (weatherman), Jared the Subway Guy Fogle, Meredith Vieira (Today Show) and Apolo Ohno (finished in 3:24:14).
