Wednesday, Dick Clark passed away at the age of 82.
Clark has been one of the most recognizable faces in the United States since the 1950’s. Born in New York, Clark rose to national fame as the host of the program, American Bandstand. And Clark started with a bang as he interviewed Elvis Presley on his first day.
Clark was also the most famous face on New Year’s. Every year beginning in 1972, Clark would host Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. He would count down to the New Year with Americans every New Year’s Eve.
Clark put his name on numerous other shows and made guest appearances on many more.
In 2004, Clark’s health problems began. In December of that year, Clark suffered a stroke. As a result, from then on, when he would host his annual New Year’s show, he would co-host with Ryan Seacrest. Today, Clark suffered a heart attack and passed away in Santa Monica, California.
Clark leaves behind a widow, his third wife Kari Wigton, and one child from his first marriage and two from his second.
The men and women of Hollywood have been pouring out to show their love for Clark. As the news sets in, many are sure to pay tribute to the legend in the coming weeks.
