Best Super Bowl Commercials Go To Big Brands

February 6th came and went. However, it was not just another Sunday, it was actually Super Bowl Sunday, a day that many consider to be an unrecognized national holiday.

This year saw two classic teams battle it out for the title of Super Bowl Champion. The Pittsburgh Steelers went for Super Bowl number 7 as they took on the Green Bay Packers, who were seeking their 4th title.

Green Bay took an early lead in the game. At halftime, the Packers led 21-10. The Steelers would charge back to get the score to 25-28 in the 4th quarter. But then the Packers sealed the deal with a field goal to win the game 31-25 and capture their first Super Bowl since Brett Favre was their quarterback. The win made the Packers just the fourth franchise in NFL history to win four Super Bowls.

The man who won the MVP award was the man who has spent his career thus far in the shadow of Brett Farve, Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers threw for 304 yards and 3 touchdowns.

While the game was definitely a good one, millions of Americans only tune in every year to see the most expensive and anticipated commercials of the year. With nearly 100 million people watching the game on television, the event serves as a gold mine for advertisers.

Best and Funniest Commercials

The funniest commercial goes to the Volkswagen: The Force commercial with a kid dressed as Darth Vader trying to move objects with his mystical powers. Right when nothing he tries to move gets to him, his dad comes home in a new Volkswagen and with the automatic key-chain push start button he turns on the car from inside the house while his kid is outside thinking his magical powers turned on the engine. Very cute and funny.

One of the other funny commercials was the Doritos House Sitting. It features a man in his 20’s house-sitting for a friend and when he forgets to take care of some chores, his Dorito crumbs magically improve things.

Another popular Doritos ad saw one young man say that the best part of eating Doritos was licking the cheese off the fingers after finishing the bag by licking his friends finger by surprise.

Snickers showcased another funny ad as part of their “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” campaign,

Coca-Cola had an amusing ad with two soldiers on opposite sides of a border. The two seemed to be enemies, but came together to drink some Coca-Cola.

An ad with a deeper meaning came from Chrysler. The car company sent the message that the hard working town of Detroit is back and on top again in the motor industry. The ad featured Detroit native, rapper Eminem, as well as one of his songs.

Other popular ads included previews for upcoming movies, Captain America: The First Avenger, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Thor, and Transfomers: Dark of the Moon.

Pepsi’s First Date commercial was also a fan favorite, as was their Love Hurts commercial.

Music fans were treated to a star-studded commercial by Best Buy. The ad featured Ozzy Osbourne and Justin Bieber.

The event saw not only a great game, but also a solid lineup of commercials that continue to deliver year after year. You can view all the Super Bowl commercials here.
