She was reported dead at the scene of arrival by the Metropolitan Police. No initial reports were made as to the cause of the death and no official speculations have been made by the police forces.
Winehouse’s history of drug abuse and alcohol abuse has been heavily publicized. Her numerous stints in rehab, including one not too long ago in England, have been headline news on the tabloids and entertainment magazines for years.[readnext]
Just one month ago Winehouse called off the remainder of her European tour. After a show in Serbia where it appeared that she was heavily intoxicated, it seemed best that she take time off to rehab.
The official report by the police who reported to Winehouse’s home read, “Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05 hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquires continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.”
While the cause of death is still unknown, there is high speculation among the public that drugs and/or alcohol played a major role in the fall of the once very promising singer.
