San Francisco (Obama.net)- As we look back into recent history, it is impossible to ignore the recession and the tragic economic situation the United States of America has endured. The crisis has cost millions of Americans their jobs and is keeping countless more from entering to workplace to begin with.
And when we look at the last decade and analyze the economic situation in the United States and check who was at the head of the United States when the downward spiral came, we see that it was former President George W. Bush and his neoconservative Republican administration. As President Obama said of the people of the United States, “they’re going to remember the policies that got us into this mess,” and he said, “they sure as heck don’t want to go back to those.”
But as for the current lack of a fast recovery, the man taking the responsibility for the numerous people in the unemployment lines is the current President of the United States of America Barack Obama.
Obama is trying to show the citizens of the United States the truth behind the headlines and express to them that the stimulus package that cost 862 billion dollars is in fact working. As Obama said, “it’s hard because you don’t see immediate gratification. But I’m not any more satisfied than they are. And until they can find a job, I expect to be held accountable.”
The importance of Obama’s convincing the American public is higher than ever now with elections coming up on November 2nd. In promoting the Democrats in the midterm elections, President Obama is selling the elections as a “choice between the policies that got us into this mess and my policies that are getting us out of this mess.”
Obama is hoping for the election to result in a more efficiently run Congress, especially the Senate in which it is becoming ever difficult to pass anything.
As the President expressed Thursday, “the fact of the matter is that I can’t play political games with the Senate on these issues. I’ve got a government to run.”
As the people of America look at the economy and end up with a frown, they must remember that even in the years of the Great Depression Franklin D. Roosevelt could not fix everything over the course of a few months.
With more hard pressing work by President Barack Obama and a little more patience on the side of some Americans, in due time the economy and the job rates in the United States of America will be back to their former, stable selves.
