Obama Blasts Republicans, Speaks Down On GOP Economic Plans

Obama used weekly address to slam GOP

Obama used weekly address to slam GOPSan Francisco (Obama.net)- President Barack Obama took to the microphone this weekend for his weekly radio address. He used his time to speak to the nation this week to talk about the claims being made by the Republicans in Congress about what they plan on doing if they take Congress on November 2nd.

The Republicans are issuing a “Pledge to America” that will decrease government regulation and put a stop to both President Obama’s stimulus programs, as well as his health care reform programs. Overall, they plan to cut taxes for everyone and also decrease spending.

Obama called the goals “an echo of a disastrous decade we can’t afford to relive,” speaking of the policies being nothing more than a recreation of the same ones used by former President George Bush, who was the Head of States when all of the economic problems were created.

Obama told the nation, “The Republicans who want to take over Congress offered their own ideas the other day. Many were the very same policies that led to the economic crisis in the first place, which isn’t surprising, since many of their leaders were among the architects of that failed policy.”

Obama criticized the Republican policies of cutting taxes for the wealthy, limiting regulation for Wall Street and special interest groups, and leaving the middle class without any assistance and forcing it “to fend for itself.”

Despite what Obama has been saying, Republicans such as Kevin McCarthy of California have been arguing that the ideas are new and have never been used in the United States government before, even though a mere rewind to the beginning of the decade would show that Bush did in fact use all of the policies being offered as “new.”

The plans of the Republicans have yet to be detailed, but are already the exact opposite of the Obama administration.

Republicans are hoping to use the anti-Obama platform of ideas to help propel them back into the majority in both the House of Representatives and the United States Senate.

With such contrasting views and the policies of Obama proving effective in the communities of the United States, it is tough to predict which party will come out victorious on November 2nd when Americans turn up to vote for who they want to run their legislature.

As President Obama has put it a few times before, on that day, will people choose the policies that are working to get us out of a recession, or will they vote for the policies that got us into the recession and economic crisis in the first place?

  1. Talking down and “blasting” doesn’t exactly court the undecided. It’s not time for politics as usual — how about apologies and “lessons learned”. Voters want to hear something that matches with reality and so far the Democrats are the ones tanking the economy but not changing course. How about the Dems. find some people who know something about business and economics instead of being so top heavy on the money dumping schemes. Then, perhaps they could come up with some effort to respect “we the people” and stop shoving bad legislation down our throats by trickery and back room dealing. Reform the Dems. might make sense at this point in the mess they’ve created.
