Increased 2010 Budget

The budget for the fiscal year of 2010 has been under debate as of late. President Barack Obama and members of the Democratic Party recently proposed an expansion of the three billion dollar allowance to a record high 3.6 billion dollars.

However, the Republicans in the House of Representatives did not like President Obama’s initial proposal, citing it was simply too large. On Thursday, after days of waiting, the Republicans finally presented their alternative to Obama’s, which featured “a budget with lower taxes, lower spending, and lower borrowing” said Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. The plan is designed to reduce spending, make new jobs available, and lighten the tax load.

Despite the positive sounding ideas, the proposed Republican version does not contain definite numbers.

Obama expressed his belief that his plan will cut the large deficits America has suffered recently by fifty percent by the conclusion of his first term in office. Obama’s budget is intended to make major progressions in health care, education, and energy.

The plan set forth by the Republican’s is one filled with ideas, but has no definite structure to it as of yet.

In addition, seventy-five percent of  “The Moderate Dems Working Groups”, which consists of the centrist Democrats in the Senate, are not too sure about Obama’s plan. In an alternative plan, Kent Conrad, the Senate Budget Committee Chairman from North Dakota presented slight changes to Obama’s original ideas.

The differences between the two Democratic plans are not vey great, but are a current issue. However, one thing is for certain, the United States Government will have to make an important decision shortly that will greatly effect the nation not only for 2010, but for many years to come.
