Last night, one of the most popular shows put out by HBO in recent years came to an end with an explosive series finale.
Produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay and starring Danny McBride, Eastbound & Down concluded last night with a surprising ending.
First, a car accident in Texas leads to a spot opening up on the Texas club for a closer, the same position Kenny Powers plays. Powers gets called up to play in the playoffs and goes to say his final words to his son.
April opens up to Kenny about how she feels about him, but Kenny elects to leave anyway and tells her that things just won’t work with him in Texas. At the same time, Stevie and Maria tell Kenny that they have decided to stay in Myrtle Beach and start a family as Maria is pregnant. This leaves Kenny going to Texas alone.
After reflecting on wise words spoken to him, Kenny puts the baseball down just as he is about to reestablish his legacy in baseball and returns home to April and son Toby.
On his way back, Kenny fakes his death in an explosive car accident. He tells April he does so to avoid media attraction and April tells Kenny he could have just stayed in Texas and she and his son could have joined him. Kenny says it wouldn’t have worked that way and then Kenny enters the home as the screen fades out and the series is over.
